Clarkson Elementary Principal Erika Devore is going back home, as she has been hired as the new principal of Eastern Elementary School in Glasgow. Devore had just finished her second year as principal at Clarkson.

Grayson County School District officials confirmed the move early Tuesday evening.

In the 2015-2016 school year, under Devore’s strong leadership, Clarkson earned, for the first time, a “Distinguished” ranking, meaning students tested above the 90th percentile in the state in Unbridled Learning results, the state’s former school assessment and accountability system.

Devore graduated from Barren County High School in 2000 before earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgetown College. She earned a Master’s Degree from WKU in 2008.

She began her teaching career at Grayson County High School in 2004 where she also served as head cheerleading coach.

With Devore leaving, and middle school principal Jim Blain moving into the principal's role at the GC Tech Center, the district is now looking to hire principals at the middle school, and of course Clarkson.

On June 13, the school district announced that Alicia Brooks will replace outgoing Lawler principal Brad Vincent.

It’s unclear at this point if Devore’s husband, the extremely popular math teacher, Jonathan Devore, will remain at the middle school or move to the Barren County School District.
