Friday night at about 7:50, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Breckinridge County authorities of a two-vehicle collision in the Eveleigh Boat Ramp parking lot.

Deputy Fred Norder responded and found that 44-year-old Gregory Brooks, of Louisville, had crashed his Toyota Corolla into a parked vehicle.

According to Dep. Norder, Brooks was apparently unconscious when, regaining consciousness, he suddenly accelerated his vehicle, striking an unoccupied Chevrolet HHR in its passenger side. Dep. Norder said after hitting the Chevy, Brooks continued accelerating the Corolla into the HHR, shredding the Toyota’s front tires.

Apparently, Brooks then again fell unconscious. When Dep. Norder arrived on the scene, he gave Brooks a field sobriety test, which he failed.

Dep. Norder then searched the Toyota and discovered suspected heroin and a syringe, as well as marijuana.

Brooks was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, his second offense, possession
of marijuana and driving under the influence (non-alcohol).

He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

Dep. Norder was assisted at the scene by Dep. Dylan Bohn, who only several minutes prior to this incident worked a DUI crash about 100 yards south of the Eveleigh Boat Ramp entrance. Breckinridge County Deputies also assisted the GCSO at the scene.
