The Beaver Dam Rest Stop on the Western Kentucky Parkway will re-open early next year.

The state Finance and Administration Cabinet announced on Monday that they awarded a contract to convenience rest area operator, Huck’s. to renovate, operate and maintain general merchandise and fuel service at the facility, according to several media reports.

The facility closed in January after the vendor’s lease expired, then provided an incomplete response to the state’s request for proposals, and was unresponsive to the state’s request for further information.

The new 4,000-square-foot operation will employ up to 20 associates, and have six pumps and 12 fueling stations.

Inside the store, customers will find Huck’s pizza, fried chicken, a bakery, and grill items.

The new Huck’s is expected to open on January, 26, 2018.

“We know travelers and local residents will be happy to see the Beaver Dam Rest Area once again open for business,” Finance Cabinet Secretary William M. Landrum III told Kentucky Today. “Martin and Bayley will operate the center 24 hours by 7 days a week by 365 days a year. It will be a convenient spot for the whole family to get refreshments, use the facilities, and fill their gas tank.”
