An Upton man is facing several charges, including assault, for striking a Kentucky State Police Trooper.

The Hardin County Grand Jury returned a multi-count indictment against 50-year-old Robert Edlin late last week. According to the News Enterprise, in June, Kentucky State Police responded to an attempted break-in and witnessed Edlin attempting to flee the area. As police arrested Edlin, he hit a Trooper in the face, and at one point, reached for a Trooper’s handgun.

Police deployed a Taser, striking Edlin in the arm.

Edlin was also indicted for burglary, fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, attempting to disarm a police officer, criminal mischief, and menacing, among other charges.

He is being held in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
