Monday night at 7:47, the Leitchfield Police Department and Grayson County Sheriff’s Office were alerted by dispatch that a resident in the 2600 block of Blowtown Road had just reported a jet ski and trailer had been stolen from his property.

Police were told the vehicle used during the theft was a “dark colored SUV.”

Only minutes later, LPD Sergeant Robert Jackson spotted the vehicle near Kirby’s Corner (at the intersection of Sadler Road and Shrewsbury Road). Jackson was soon joined by LPD Officer Joe Overton as the pair tracked the suspect and executed a traffic stop on the Jeep Grand Cherokee on West White Oak Street, in a parking lot across from Leitchfield City Hall.

Police identified the driver as 29-year-old Adam Lacefield, of Caneyville, and the passenger as 39-year-old Patrick J. Fegan, of Leitchfield.

After the owner of the jet ski and trailer arrived on the scene and identified the items as his property, Lacefield and Fegan were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. The victim told police that another trailer had been stolen off his property on Sunday.

Police said additional charges are expected to be filed against Lacefield and Fegan, as items related to manufacturing methamphetamine were found inside the Grand Cherokee.

Both men are lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

Assisting Jackson and Overton at the scene were LPD Officer Chase Melton, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Clay Booone, Special Deputy Mark Stanton, and Constable Tim Saltsman.

The investigation continue into the incident continues.
