A Somerset man dressed as the Pokémon character Pikachu jumped a concrete barrier outside the White House at about 9:45 Tuesday morning and was quickly taken into custody.
During the incident, D.C. police said 36-year-old Curtis Combs dropped a backpack near the southern fence along E Street Northwest. The Secret Service said the backpack contained nothing hazardous, according to multiple media reports.
The Secret Service said Combs was near an outer perimeter fence when he jumped the barrier. The fence is marked by a sign that says Restricted Area Do Not Enter.
Combs was arrested and charged with unlawful entry.
