Police are still searching for a suspect who passed a counterfeit check at the IGA Express on Main Street in Smiths Grove on Saturday before leading police on a high-speed chase.

According to authorities, officers responded to the report of the counterfeit check and encountered the suspect, identified as David Moss, as he pumped gas. Police gave Moss verbal commands, which he ignored. Authorities then tased Moss, but he was able to get into his vehicle and flee.

Moss led police on a chase on southbound I-65, with speeds reaching over 120 miles per hour before officers lost sight of Moss at the about the 30 mile marker of the interstate. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office then became involved in a high-speed pursuit with Moss on Louisville Road, but police were unsuccessful in capturing the suspect.

Moss, though, left a day planner, containing several credit cards, at the IGA Express. Police said he has passed similar counterfeit checks at the IGA Express, written on an account owned by Craig’s Designs, a company in Raleigh, North Carolina, according to a report on WBKO.com.

Moss has arrest warrants out of Warren and Fayette Counties.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Moss is asked to contact the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police or the Smiths Grove Police Department.
