Former House Speaker Jeff Hoover, R-Jamestown, is out of the hospital.
Speaker Pro Tem David Osborne, R-Prospect, issued a statement Tuesday afternoon saying, “Rep. Jeff Hoover’s family has confirmed that he has been released from the hospital and is doing well. At this time, his family still requests privacy as he recovers at home.”
Hoover was taken to the hospital last Friday due to heart-related issues, five days after he stepped down from his leadership post aid sexual harassment allegations.
During a Capitol press conference on Nov. 5 in which he announced his resignation as Speaker, Hoover admitted he was one of four lawmakers who settled the allegations, which were made by a House Republican Caucus staff member, who has also since resigned.
Osborne’s statement gave no indication when Hoover might return to his duties in Frankfort, as State Representative for the 83rd District, which includes part of Pulaski, Clinton, Cumberland and Russell counties.
The House Republican Caucus announced last week that they have retained the Middleton Reutlinger law firm to conduct the investigation and advise the Speaker’s office on personnel and human resources issues in the situation.
A report from that law firm is expected within a week or so.
