Brandenburg man killed in hunting accident in Breckinridge County

Kentucky State Police is investigating a hunting death that occurred in Breckinridge County on Thursday morning.

According to police, at approximately 11:15 Thursday morning, KSP was asked by Kentucky Fish and Wildlife to respond to a shooting that took place while two men were deer hunting off J.E. Haynes Road, in Irvington.

Police said 43-year-old Christopher B. Stone, of Irvington, was hunting with 39-year-old Nicholas Lee Ford, of Brandenburg.  Stone shot his rifle into an overgrown field surrounded by woods where Ford was standing. The round struck Ford in the back.

Ford was transported to Breckinridge Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the Breckinridge County Coroner’s Office.

The case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
