Sunday morning at approximately 12:15, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Millwood man on multiple child sex charges after receiving a tip on his location.

The sheriff’s office said that on Saturday night, Deputy Rance Whobrey received information on the location of a suspect wanted out of Cumberland County for outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Deputy Whobrey also obtained information that the suspect, 36-year-old James D. Armes, was in possession of “disturbing” images of Armes sodomizing and sexually abusing an infant female child, according to the GCSO.

Upon arriving at a residence on Church Street in Millwood, Deputy Whobrey and Kentucky State Troopers Joey Beasley and Clayton Ellis encountered Armes lying on a couch. Police said Armes refused to comply with the officer’s commands to place his hands behind his back, resulting in authorities wrestling him to the ground. During the scuffle, police said Armes refused to show his right hand “and actually reached for his waistband during the struggle.”

Armes, listed as a sex offender in the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry, was eventually arrested without further incident.

He was charged by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office with two counts of sodomy (victim under the age of 12), two counts of sexual abuse (victim under the age of 12) and four counts of possession/viewing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. All of the charges are felonies.

Kentucky State Police charged Armes with menacing and resisting arrest.

He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center where he’s being held on $100,000 cash bond.

The investigation is ongoing and additional felony sex abuse charges are likely, according to police.
