Multiple commercial vehicles, including a Greyhound bus, were involved in a crash Tuesday morning at about 7:40 at the 70 mile marker of southbound I-65, near Bonnieville.

Kentucky State Police arrived at the scene and found that 54-year-old Kenith Miller, of Tampa, Florida, was driving a Volvo semi-truck when he struck a Safety Patrol truck from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Transportation worker, 64-year-old Randall Simmons, of Munfordville, was not in the vehicle but was assisting a stalled Greyhound bus that was parked in the emergency lane.

The Volvo semi-truck continued and struck a parked Ford F-150 service truck that was holding three passengers, including one juvenile. The service truck then struck the Greyhound, and a short time later, a second semi-truck, being driven by 52-year-old Russell Collins, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, struck the Volvo semi-truck.

Police said 21 people, including 18 Greyhound bus passengers, were transported to area hospitals.

The only victim not treated and released from a hospital was the juvenile, who is listed in stable condition at a Louisville hospital. He’s listed in stable condition.

Authorities said it appears the icy, snow-covered roadway contributed the accident.
