On Monday afternoon at approximately 12:30, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police arrested a Horse Branch man wanted for a felony parole violation.

Police followed several leads throughout the day and learned through their investigation that 39-year-old Stephen Woomer was possibly armed with a handgun and had made statements that he would not return to jail, according to the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office.

In the early afternoon, police located Woomer’s vehicle parked outside of a residence in Rosine. Officers set up a perimeter and made contact with a female at the residence who said that Woomer was inside the home, and had access to a firearm.

After Woomer did not respond to commands to exit the residence, police made entry into the home and arrested the suspect without incident.

He was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with the felony parole violation. He is being held in the Ohio County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
