On February 7, during the Administrative Division’s portion of the State Committee meeting in Lexington, the STC approved Deloris Fulkerson to serve as an advisor to the Grayson County Farm Service Agency County Committee.

She will be working along with the current Committee, comprised of J.H. Manion, Jack Ewing and Charles Edwards. Fulkerson will serve as an important and much needed representative of the female farming community.

Fulkerson was born and raised in Hart County and is the oldest of seven children. She started working on the farm when she was only three-years-old.

Fulkerson married in 1965 and moved to Grayson County where she and her husband continued to farm raising cattle, horses and tobacco. She quit public work 1976 to stay home and tend to the farm, and by this time their cattle herd had grown and they were raising registered Angus cattle.

Her husband passed away in 2014, but Fulkerson continues to manage the farm of approximately 500 acres. Her farming practices include CRP, grain production, alfalfa and cattle.

Many may not realize how significant and strong the female farming community is in Grayson County. It is our goal to represent this community to the best of our ability and ensure they are receiving the support they deserve. This will be Fulkerson’s third term as advisor and she has handled the position with great poise and respect the last two years. She will continue to work hard to ensure equal and fair treatment for the female farming community.

Fulkerson was also selected to serve as first alternate to J.H. Manion in representing the eastern part of Grayson County.
