The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Watch for central Kentucky, including Grayson County.

The watch remains in effect until Sunday morning.

The NWS said rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall are expected across the watch area through Sunday morning. Thunderstorms will bring particularly high rainfall rates Saturday and Saturday night, with an additional two to four inches of rainfall expected through Sunday.

Significant and continued rising water levels on the Ohio, Rolling Fork, Kentucky, Rough, and Green Rivers, as well as other area streams, are expected through the weekend, according to the NWS.

Rough River Lake officials said Thursday night that the lake level was at 490.75 feet and rising (winter pool is 470 feet, summer pool is 495 feet). After receiving 1.8 inches of rain on Thursday, Rough River at Dundee was at 26.01 feet and rising (flood stage is 25 feet).

Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson said Thursday afternoon that water is flowing over Shaw Creek Road, with Pleasant View Road and Hooper Barton Road having standing water in the roadway.

Henderson said that it takes only a small amount of moving water to move objects, including vehicles and to please exercise caution when traveling.

Henderson asked that anyone driving upon a flooded road, please notify Grayson County Dispatch by calling 270-259-0303, or Emergency Management at 270-259-0096.
