A Campbellsville man has been jailed after allegedly assaulting a man with a hammer.

On Sunday night, police responded to a report of a man being assaulted with a hammer. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities found the victim, James Burdine, had already been transported, unconscious, to Taylor County Hospital, according to media reports. He was later taken to University of Louisville Hospital where he’s in stable condition.

Police arrested 55-year-old Jeffrey Jones and charged him with assault, tampering with physical evidence, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest.

Police did not release why Jones assaulted Burdine.

Jones was lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center.
