Leitchfield Public Works Director Shelia Puckett said at Monday night’s City Council meeting that her department is holding a Grayson County Tire Disposal Program for Grayson County residents.

Beginning Monday, April 2, citizens of the county may drop off up to eight 16 inch or smaller tires at the Leitchfield Solid Waste Transfer Station at no charge. A maximum of eight tires per household will be accepted (proof of residency is required).

Regular rates ($2 per tire, plus weight) apply if disposing of tires on rims and tires 17 inches or larger, or semi-truck tires (which cost $7 per tire, plus weight).

The Tire Disposal Program will run until April 30, or until 2,666 tires – the most Public Works is allowed to accept — have been disposed of at the transfer station.

The transfer station, located at 315 West Lake Drive, will be open on Saturdays in April from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to accommodate citizens wishing to drop off tires.
