GCHS and GCMS sending HOSA members to national competition

Grayson County High School HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) made a strong showing at the recent State Leadership Conference, with several students advancing to national competition by placing in the top three in their events.

First place national qualifiers include: Makenna Wells (Pathophysiology), Joey Vogt (Medical Terminology), Peyton Spears (Nutrition), Taylor Kinser (Clinical Nursing), Serenity Miller (Home Health Aide), and Clay Newton (Nursing Assisting).

Blair Warner placed third in Epidemiology, and Brianna Totten took third place in Medical Assisting.

Students placing in the Top 5 in their event included Ashton McMonigal (Medical Math), Maranda Henderson (Transcultural Health), and Zach Spears (Healthy Lifestyle). The team of Kaylee Embry, Matte Milam, and Shelby Pierce placed in the Top 5 in Community Awareness.

HOSA’s National Leadership Conference will be held June 26 – 30 in Dallas, Texas.

GCHS HOSA advisors are Donna Priest and Erin Johnston.

Grayson County Middle School Jr. HOSA sends students to national competition

Grayson County Middle School’s Jr. Health Occupations Students of America made its first-ever state competition appearance, only to take first place in several categories and qualify for national competition.

Advancing are eighth grader Branson Evans (Medical Terminology), seventh grader Amyra Cummings (Prepared Speaking), sixth graders Nikki Roof and Kaitlyn Newton (Health Education).

Junior HOSA advisors are Nena Tucker and Shalee Carter.
