Travel advisory for I-65 in Hardin County for Tuesday night and Wednesday morning

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has issued a travel advisory for I-65 in Hardin County.

According to transportation cabinet spokesman Chris Jessie, beginning Tuesday night, Scotty’s Contracting will place southbound traffic into divided lanes near mile marker 90.5 at Elizabethtown. The work will begin around 6:00 Tuesday night and continue until approximately 6:00 Wednesday morning.

During this process, southbound motorists will encounter varying lane closures along the work zone, Jessie said. This configuration will begin just south of the exit 91 interchange, so all lanes will have access to exit 91 ramps.

With divided lanes, the southbound weigh station will be closed, and exit 86 will only be accessible from the right lane. The left lane will go through from exit 91 to exit 81, according to Jessie.

This is one of the final major traffic shifts planned as part of the ongoing I-65 widening project. The project should be completed in the fall, making the interstate at least six lanes through all of Kentucky.
