The Leitchfield City Council announced at Monday night’s meeting that the dedication ceremony for the new Leitchfield Sports Complex will be held Saturday afternoon, April 28 at 1:00.

The complex is located at 101 Veterans Way, just below the Aquatic Center.

The event will feature guest speakers, entertainment and light refreshments.

Leagues begin play on the new fields on April 30.

Also at Monday night’s meeting, organizers of the annual Scare on the Square Halloween event, Jason Watson, Chelsea Lashley, Sam Embry, and Nick Ramsey, once again asked permission from the council to close the Town Square for the event. Scare on the Square, which hosted about 1,000 people last October, and raised $2,500 for the Grayson County Food Alliance, has more than tripled in size since its inception three years ago.

Council members approved the request to close the square on Saturday, October 20, pending the approval of state officials.

Lastly, Public Works Director Sheila Puckett said her department sold a Ford F150 pickup truck on govdeals.com for just over $5,800.
