A Hardin County man has perished in a house fire.
The fire occurred Thursday morning at approximately 4:40 on Hwy 220, near Patriot Parkway (about five miles northwest of Elizabethtown) , according to Hardin County EMA Director Bryce Shumate.
The Rineyville and Vine Grove Fire Departments responded to the fire, with it taking firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the flames. After putting out the blaze, the News Enterprise reports that firefighters discovered the body of 66-year-old John Patterson on the second floor of the wood frame structure.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
