Health officials in Kentucky now say three people are dead as a result of a hepatitis A outbreak which has affected over 300 people.

The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services is not releasing the counties in which the deaths occurred due to privacy concerns, but officials did say the Louisville metro area and northeastern Kentucky are the regions of the state most affected.

The cabinet previously reported the first hepatitis A-related death in Louisville.

Officials say there have been 352 outbreak-associated cases through April 14, with 246 people hospitalized.

Experts are recommending people in nearby Hardin, Bullitt, and Jefferson Counties, as well as Greenup, Carter and Boyd Counties receive vaccinations.

Health experts say signs and symptoms of Hepatitis A include jaundice, dark-colored urine, fatigue, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea and fever.
