A youth basketball coach in Radcliff has been jailed after allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old female player.

The Radcliff Police Department is investigating the claim after the youth basketball coach, 41-year-old Corvell Conley, of Radcliff, was accused of raping and sodomizing one of his players. Conley does not coach for Hardin County Schools.

According to police, the victim said Conley stopped at a location when taking the teen home from practice and had sex with the juvenile in the back seat of Conley’s vehicle, according to media reports.

A nurse performed a sexual assault exam on the juvenile, with the nurse saying the girl’s injuries were consistent with her claims.

Conley was arrested early Thursday morning and charged with third-degree rape and third-degree sodomy, and lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond.

According to Kentucky statutes, a person is guilty of rape in the third degree when:

  • He or she engages in sexual intercourse with another person who is incapable of consent because he or she is an individual with an intellectual disability; or
  • Being 21-years-old or more, he or she engages in sexual intercourse with another person less than 16- years-old; or
  • Being 21-years-old or more, he or she engages in sexual intercourse with another person less than 18-years-old and for whom he or she provides a foster family home; or
  • Being a person in a position of authority or position of special trust, he or she engages in sexual intercourse with a minor under 18-years-old with whom he or she comes into contact as a result of that position.

Third-degree rape and third-degree sodomy are class D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison.
