Tuesday night at approximately 7:15, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Leitchfield Police and Fire Departments and EMS responded to 1800 block of Owensboro Road on the report of a single-car accident.

Upon arriving at the scene, Deputies Dylan Bohn and DJ Newton found a Honda Civic off the roadway and on its side.

The investigation revealed that 21-year-old Dakota Payton, of Millwood, was driving a Honda Civic east on Owensboro Road when he lost control of the car at the top of small hill in a straight stretch, traveled 132 feet in the roadway, leaving yaw and brake marks on the pavement. The vehicle left the road and traveled down a small embankment before striking a concrete culvert head-on and rolling onto its side.

Payton and his two passengers, Brian Lee (who was unrestrained) and Jenna Mercer, were transported by EMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Payton was cited by Dep. Newton for driving on a suspended license, having no liability insurance and expired registration plates.

Leitchfield Police Officers Bart Glenn and Chase Melton assisted at the scene.
