A Grayson County Middle School teacher was arrested Tuesday, May 15, according to Leitchfield Police Detective Kevin Smith, and charged with multiple offenses regarding an inappropriate relationship with a student.
In a press release, Smith said John W. Cariel, 65, of Leitchfield has been charged with distribution of obscene matter to minors, first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree sodomy, and prohibited use of electronic communication system to procure minor (sex offenses).
Smith reported the incidents leading up to the charges occurred in October 2017.
Cariel was transported to the Grayson County Detention Center without incident.
The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pending.
