Kentucky State Police has captured an Ohio County Detention Center inmate after he failed to return from work release.

According to police, 44-year-old Jeffery N. Howard, of Reynolds Station, left the detention center Thursday night at 5:30 to work at Tamerlane Industries but did not return to the jail Friday morning.

He was captured Sunday in Bath County after stealing fuel from a gas station in Whitesville.

Howard was jailed in February for manufacturing methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a meth precursor, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and receiving stolen property (auto, $10,000 or more).

He was originally held on two bonds totaling $15,600. He now faces a second-degree escape charge.
