The Grayson County Water District has been recognized not only in central Kentucky, but also at the state level for its excellence in operating the Grayson County water system.

The Grayson County Water Treatment plant was recently awarded the Treatment Plant of the Year for the Central Chapter of the Kentucky Water & Wastewater Operators Association (KWWOA).

“The Central Chapter of the Operators Association includes many outstanding systems, with a range from Allen to McCreary County on the Tennessee border north from Meade County to Oldham County, on the Indiana border,” according to Kyle Cannon of the Grayson County Water District.

Jeremy Woosley, a 16-year employee with the water district, was recognized as Operator of the Year, and after being awarded the recognition on the chapter level, both the GC Water Treatment Plant and Woosley were placed as nominees for the KWWOA state awards held in northern Kentucky in mid-April.

At that conference, Woosley was recognized as the statewide Operator of the Year and graciously received the Earl T. Mitchell Award for Operator Excellence.

“There are a tremendous amount of very good utility systems and operators throughout Kentucky,” Cannon said. “To receive these awards, chosen by your peers, is quite an honor.”
