Wednesday night at approximately 7:00, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office attempted to execute a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling west on Elizabethtown Road, just east of Big Clifty, at over 90 miles per hour.

The driver, 53-year-old James Brown, of Eastview, fled Chief Deputy Jarrod Mudd on Elizabethtown Road before turning right onto Hardin Springs Road. Deputy Fred Norder, who was in the area, intercepted Brown on Hardin Springs Road, and after Brown continued to flee, he forced Brown off the road and into a driveway in the 800 block of Hardin Springs Road.

Brown, who was clearly intoxicated, was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police, speeding 26 mph over the limit and DUI. Deputies found beer and whiskey in Brown’s Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck.

He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

Deputy Taylor Logsdon, Clarkson Police Chief Buck Meredith and Kentucky State Police assisted Chief Deputy Mudd and Deputy Norder at the scene.
