After listening to an episode of In The Know last Thursday about these moms creating Summer Bucket Lists for their kids (have you ever heard of this concept?-So cool!), I got inspired to make all these arts and crafts with my kids…but there is a small hiccup, I don’t actually have any children. I mean with the exception of my dog Jax! But, I kept looking at all these projects that were so amazing and would be so fun to do with the little ones!

Plus, I heard a somewhat shocking statistic the other day. Apparently, on average, kids will spend 9 whole days of the Summer inside playing video games, which is a ton and something that needs to change. So, new plan! I will just have to keep this blog post handy for like the next 10 years until I have kids of my own to do these awesome activities with, but until then I’ll share them with all of you for you and families to try! Interested in the instructions of something below? Just click the image for more details!

  • Homemade Bird Feeder: This is a great way to get your kids involved in nature and a fantastic opportunity to learn about the different bird species around the area!

  • Squirt Gun Painted T-Shirts: An awesome idea! Fill a water gun with paint and shoot onto a white t-shirt. Creative and unique!

  • Tie-Dye Shirts: A classic summer activity that promotes imagination!

  • Handmade Wind Chimes: Imagine these adorable chimes hanging on your porch for all your neighbors to envy!

  • Painted and Decorated Flower Pots: This is something that I loved to do as a kid. I would paint some of my mom’s flower pots and I was always so proud to see the flowers grow and bloom.

  • Water Bottle Sailboats: Make these boats and then challenge the family to a sailboat race. Winner gets to choose dinner for the night!

  • Painted Garden Rocks: Add some extra flair to the flower bed with these sweet homemade add-ins.

  • Face Painting Adventures: Let the kids be the artists for the day and paint each other’s… or Mom and Dad’s… faces. Then, have a family photo shoot!

  • DIY Moon Sand: Something squishy and cool to play with outside or in the house…I mean who doesn’t love moon sand!

  • Chalk Rockets: A completely new concept to me, but one that I am now dying to try.

While it may be a few years before I get to put some of these to good use, I am still planning on becoming the coolest mom ever that jam packs summer break with arts and crafts and innovative activities that teaches new concepts, but in a fun way.

What do you think of the activities above? Would you be willing to try them with your kids? See anything you think would be super fun? Tell me about it in the comments below!

Until next time.
