Attorney General Andy Beshear expected to announce run for governor as he tours the state Monday, Tuesday

Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear has scheduled a press conference for 9:00 Monday morning at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage in Louisville.

Beshear’s appearance in Louisville will be the first of several on Monday and Tuesday for the Democrat, as he has several stops planned, including in Lexington, Owensboro, Bowling Green, Paducah, and Pikeville. He said over the weekend the press conferences are concerning the “future of Kentucky.”

Following Monday morning’s appearance, Beshear will travel to Lexington where he will be at Dudley’s on Short at 11:15.

Beshear would be the first Democrat to announce a bid to run for Kentucky’s governor in what is expected to be crowded field against incumbent Republican Matt Bevin.

Beshear’s father, Steve Beshear, served as governor from 2007 to 2015. Andy Beshear has been the state’s Attorney General since 2016.
