This year the Twin Lakes National Fiddler Championship will feature not only a special appearance by Grayson County native Jimmy Mattingly, one of the best fiddle players in the world, and a free concert by three-time Grammy nominated bluegrass band, The Grascals, additionally, 2018 Miss Kentucky Katie Bouchard will make an appearance.

Bouchard will be on hand to participate in the festivities, sign autographs and be available for pictures for several hours during the day (times to be announced).

The fiddler championship, held in conjunction with the Leitchfield Freedom and Fiddling Festival, is scheduled to begin Saturday morning, July 21 at 9:00.

There will be six categories of competition in fiddling, as well as dancing, guitar, mandolin, and banjo.

On Saturday afternoon, Mattingly and a few of the original ”Orchestra Fiddlers,” including Ed Carnes, Mark Ralph, Erik Payton, and Harold Miller, plan to present a special performance.

In addition to the competition on the east side of the Leitchfield Town Square, the Leitchfield Freedom Festival events will be held around the square with vendor booths, crafts, amusement rides, activities for kids, and a car “Cruise-In,” sponsored by the Western Kentucky Car Club, as well as a fireworks display.

On Saturday evening after the competition The Grascals, featuring Grayson County native Danny Roberts, will perform.

All events are free.
