Thursday evening at 5:45, Kentucky State Police received a request from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Mountain View Estates Road, located between Youngers Creek and Colesburg, in northern Hardin County.

Kentucky State Police spokesman Scotty Sharp said the preliminary investigation revealed that a Hardin County Deputy Sheriff had initiated a traffic stop on a subject identified to have several felony warrants. As the deputy attempted to take the suspect into custody, he refused, and attempted to flee in his vehicle.

Sharp said the deputy shot one time, striking the suspect. A short pursuit followed, ending on Lower Colesburg Road.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to University of Louisville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The case remains under investigation by KSP Post 4 detectives.

Police have not released the name of the deputy involved, or the victim.
