Sunday morning at 7:54, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkson Fire Department and EMS responded to the 1500 block of Rock Creek Road on the report of a single-car accident.

Upon arriving at the scene, Deputy DJ Newton said he found a 2004 GMC Yukon, being driven by 56-year-old Laymon Jaggers, of Leitchfield, had left the roadway and struck a culvert. The vehicle crossed a driveway and continued traveling into a yard where the driver’s side of the vehicle struck a small tree. Dep. Newton said after hitting the tree, the Yukon turned and encountered an unlevel section of the yard, with the driver’s side front tire digging into the ground and flipping the vehicle onto the driver’s side.

The Yukon then slid about 12 feet before righting itself, ejecting Jaggers in the process.

Jaggers suffered severe head trauma and other injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson. Hudson transported Jaggers’ body to the coroner’s office for a postmortem examination.
