The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office has released information on Monday’s arrest involving multiple methamphetamine labs being discovered at a residence on Bloomington Road, an incident K105 first reported on Monday night.

Sheriff Norman Chaffins said that on Monday afternoon at approximately 2:43, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Sonny Poteet and Deputies Taylor Logsdon and Mark Newman, along with Special Deputy Mark Stanton, arrived at the home in the 3800 block of Bloomington Road, in Leitchfield, in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant on 36-year-old Christopher Rigsby, of Leitchfield. Rigsdby was wanted out of Grayson and Edmonson Counties on several felony charges.

Sheriff Chaffins said Rigsby was located inside a vehicle, along with 34-year-old Stacey Lambert, of Leitchfield, with a working “one-step” meth lab in his lap. Once the scene was secure, deputies requested the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force for cleanup, and to obtain a search warrant for the property.

During a search of the property, police located two additional methamphetamine labs as well as multiple rifles, shotguns, handguns, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia, including pipes, scales, and baggies in and around the residence, according to Sheriff Chaffins.

“There were also several grams of finished meth product, as well as other meth manufacturing ingredients located at the scene,” the sheriff said.

One suspect, 60-year-old Ricky Wilson, of Leitchfield, attempted to destroy evidence by knocking it out of a detective’s hands. Wilson was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, convicted felon in possession of a handgun, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), tampering with physical evidence, assault of a police officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also at the scene, and an active participant in the crimes, according to Sheriff Chaffins, was 52-year-old Karen Staats, of Leitchfield. She was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Rigsby was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine, over 2 grams), and possession of drug paraphernalia. The warrants Rigsby was served with were for two counts of criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking (more than $10,000) and two failure to appear charges.

Lambert was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.

Three of the suspects, Wilson, Rigsby, and Lambert, are convicted felons with previous drug crimes, the sheriff stated.

In addition to the sheriff’s office and task force, the Leitchfield Police Department assisted at the scene. The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force.
