Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3:15, the Leitchfield Police Department, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and EMS responded to the 500 block of Grayson Springs Road, at the intersection of Shull White Road, on the report of a car versus motorcycle accident.

According to police, a 2006 Ford Freestyle was being driven by an unidentified female west on Grayson Springs Road, when a 1999 Yamaha motorcycle, being driven by 27-year-old Harold Watts, of Elizabethtown, was turning left onto Grayson Springs Road. While pulling onto Grayson Springs, Watts pulled into the path of the Ford, resulting in the two vehicles colliding.

The motorcycle and Watts came to rest in a ditch next the roadway, while the Ford left the road and traveled about 50 yards into a field.

Watts was pronounced dead at the scene by Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson. His body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office by Hudson. Watts was wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck.

The unidentified female driver of the Ford admitted to police she had been drinking earlier in the day, and appeared unsteady on her feet as Kentucky State Police performed a field sobriety test. She was taken to Twin Lakes Regional Medical by KSP, presumably for blood work to determine if she was impaired at the time of the wreck.

In addition to Kentucky State Police Troopers, detectives and accident re-constructionists also arrived on the scene and are leading the investigation.

K105 will have more information on this story as it becomes available.
