Doris Barnes Petty, age 84, of Big Clifty, KY, passed away Wednesday, (August 8, 2018) at her home.
She was born on April 20, 1934 in Hardin County, KY, the daughter of the late Carve and Eula Fryrear Peters.
She was a lunch lady at the Grayson County High School, a painter, a farmer and a caregiver. She enjoyed flowers, quilting, painting, refinishing furniture and crocheting. She was a member of the Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Ricky Goodman (Terri) of Elizabethtown and Steve Goodman (Kathy) of Cecilia; daughters, Joy Goodman of Custer, KY and Sherry Akers (Jeff) of Big Clifty; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; several half-brothers, half-sisters, nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Barnes, daughter, Tina Gregory, brother, Allen Gene Peters and sisters, Agnes Mae Decker, Flo Ricketts, and Freda Wallace.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, (August 11, 2018) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. David Reynolds will be officiating. Burial will be in the Constantine Methodist Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
