Local and state law enforcement are looking for a prison inmate from Grayson County who walked away from a halfway house in downtown Louisville.

William Clayton Mercer, 40, of Leitchfield, has convictions for manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine in both Grayson and Breckinridge Counties.

He was last seen on July 8 at Dismass Charities St. Patrick, on West Market Street in Louisville.

Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins said his office has received “a few tips” on Mercer’s location but so far law enforcement has not been able to locate the fugitive.

Mercer stands 6-foot-3 and weighs about 195 pounds. He has brown eyes and red hair, and has at times worn a beard.

Anyone with information on Mercer’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office at 270-259-3024.
