After a three-day joint investigation by the Richmond Police Department and retail loss prevention personnel, 41 suspects were arrested.
In the investigation, dubbed “Operation Broken Cart,” police and loss prevention specialists spent three days targeting customers stealing from seven stores, as police witnessed the suspects stealing a variety of items, including electronics and cosmetics, according to media reports.
By the end of the operation, police seized nearly $2,500 in stolen merchandise and $30,000 in narcotics.
The 41 people were charged with a variety of offenses, including shoplifting and drug-related counts.
