Tuesday night at approximately 8:20, Kentucky State Police responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 4300 block of South Dixie Highway, in Hart County.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicated that 18-year-old Hailey Wilson, of Munfordville, was driving a 2016 Dodge passenger car south on Hwy 31-W when her vehicle crossed the center line and into the path of a 1992 GMC truck, being driven by 50-year-old Michael D. Riggs, also of Munfordville.
Police said the impact propelled the truck off the roadway where it caught fire.
Riggs was pronounced dead at scene by the Hart County Coroner’s Office, while Wilson was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
