Wednesday morning at 1:20, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Caneyville Fire Department responded to the 4100 block of Caney Creek Road on the report of a semi-truck accident.

Upon Deputy Kelsey Overton and Sgt. Fred Norder arriving on scene, police found that the driver, Charles Miles, of McLean County, lost control of the truck as he traveled west, and around a sharp curve, leaving 189 feet of skid marks on the roadway, according to police.

The truck, carrying 24 crates of live chickens for Perdue Farms, left the road and flipped onto its side.

The crates were then freed from the semi, and the truck removed from the scene. Several workers from a local chicken farm arrived and helped right the crates (which were positioned on their sides), with the crates of chickens loaded by a forklift onto the trailer of another truck. Workers then cleared the roadway of debris.

Caney Creek Road was closed at the accident location until about 4:35.

Miles was not injured in the accident.
