The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office has released its activity report for April, May and June.

In the report Sheriff Norman Chaffins said, “Thanks to the tips from our citizens, we captured several of our Grayson County Top 10 Most Wanted as a result of releasing the names to the media and our citizens.”

Of the initial Top 10 Most Wanted list released by the sheriff’s office a few months ago, all but two have been captured. In total, 10 of the 19 suspects listed on the two most wanted lists released by the sheriff’s office have been arrested. The latest most wanted list, found by clicking here, was released only a few weeks ago.

Activity Report

  • Deputies wrote 150 citations and opened 80 criminal cases during the three month span (in lieu of traffic citations, the sheriff’s office issued 30 courtesy notices)
  • The sheriff’s office worked 140 crashes, with 50 of those accidents resulting in injuries
  • The SO made over 200 criminal arrests
  • Deputies made 14 DUI arrests and assisted 85 stranded motorists
  • The GCSO attempted to serve 825 court papers, with 380 of those paper successfully served
  • In total, the sheriff’s office answered over 2,315 calls for service/citizen complaints, and conducted over 210 extra patrol requests, and were involved in over 50 special details or programs

“Please practice safe driving habits by staying off your phone and focusing on the road and environment around you,” Sheriff Chaffins urged. “We would also like to remind our citizens that 50 percent of traffic fatalities in 2017 were NOT wearing a safety belt. BUCKLE UP GRAYSON COUNTY!”

For the month of August and throughout the remainder of 2018, Sheriff Chaffins said the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Leitchfield Police Department and Kentucky State Police, along with other law enforcement agencies, will continue to set up traffic safety checkpoints at approved locations throughout Grayson County to ensure motorists are sober, buckled up and obeying Kentucky’s traffic laws.
