(Leitchfield, KY) – Let’s chat about all the opportunities to be involved in local events this weekend.  If you listened to Shop Local Leitchfield (103.9 The Moose) on Wednesday, then you have already heard about some of the opportunities you and your family have to participate in this weekend in Grayson County; while you support local families, and youth events.

Start off Friday evening with a pork dinner at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarkson.  This is a fundraiser to support St. Paul School. This dinner is called “famous” by the locals for a reason.   They start serving dinner at 4:30 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.  It’s a great way to support this school, and enjoy an evening filled with food, fun & fellowship. Adult dinners are $10 each, and includes pork chop and two sides. Delivery and pick up available.

Grab your orange & blue and head to Cougar Stadium Friday evening; the GCHS Cougar football team will take-on the Breckinridge Co. Tigers.  That game gets underway at 7:00 p.m.  It’s homecoming night, as a new princess for the GCHS Freshman/Sophomore classes, and a new queen to represent the Junior/Senior classes will be crowned.  K105’s Sam Gormley will be broadcasting game coverage on K105, or stream live by downloading our apps for iPhone/Android and listen along.

After the game, high schoolers have the opportunity to hang-out at the 5th Quarter Party at Potter’s Hope gym, 135 Commerce Drive, Leitchfield.  Enter the gym through the front doors, and sign-in please.  There will be volleyball, cornhole, and free pizza.  This is a free event, and is for high school aged students only.  The 5th Quarter Party is a supervised event, and this is the second time the event is being offered for local teens.  Oh, and did I mention the free giveaways?

If you’d like to have a date night with your honey, or hang-out with your girlfriends, head down to Rough River Dam State Resort Park Friday evening for the Concert in the Park series.  This Friday night features Waddy Mo De, a rock-N-roll genre band.  Grab dinner at Grayson’s Landing while at the resort!  Concert starts at 6:30 p.m.

Go to bed in your orange and blue because you’re going to need to wear it again Saturday, as the community has the opportunity to see the first performance of the 2018-2019 GCHS Marching Cougar Band’s season show.  The first performance is at 5:00 p.m. with an auction following, and a second opportunity to catch the band’s performance at 7:00 p.m.  There will be inflatables for kids, grilled pork chop sandwiches for sale, and a dunking booth, all happening at the Grayson County High School football stadium.

Also Saturday afternoon, there is a benefit dinner/auction for Jerry and Cindy Walker at the Caneyville Purple Flash Center at the old Caneyville School starting at 5:00 p.m.  Jerry and Cindy have both faced major health issues recently, and the community is asking everyone to come and support this couple.   There have been several items donated including electronics, two hogs and processing, power tools, and a Remington riffle.  Dinner begins at 5:00 p.m. , auction at 6:00 p.m.

But before you make afternoon plans for Saturday, grab a biscuit and head to the most unique auction you may ever attend.  Head to 118 William Thomason Byway, (you can park at the Centre on Main back parking lot off of South Clinton St. and walk over) at 10:00 a.m. and check out the hundreds of pieces being offered at the liquidation auction of Imaginary Pieces.  You can view all of those amazing pieces here: https://www.fhrealtyandauction.com/-/listing/300509281/118-Wm-Thomason-Byway-Leitchfield-KY-42754
