Melvie Loraine Clemons, age 85, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (August 23, 2018) at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY.
She was born on April 22, 1933 in Pearman, KY, the daughter of the late Clarence and Nora Sims Clemons.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, puzzles, keeping up with social media, making greeting cards and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Joseph Alter Society.
She is survived by five sons, David (Betty), Eddie (Laquita) and Patrick of Leitchfield, Steve (Rhonda) of Clarkson and Mark Clemons (Shawn) of Leitchfield; four daughters, Debbie Woods (Gary) of Owensboro, Donna Smith (Rich Edelson) of Louisville, Pam Miller and Cindy Dallas (Billy) both of Leitchfield; 29 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. Delma and Paul Clemons. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Clemons, infant daughters Mary and Marsha Clemons, grandchildren Patrik Miller and Amy Clemons, three brothers, Carmel, Daris and Kenneth Clemons, and five sisters, Hazel Higdon, Audrey Clemons, Mildred White, Norma Robinette and Leta Clemons.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, (August 27, 2018) at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leitchfield. Father Tony Bickett will be officiating. Burial will be in the St. Benedict Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Dermitt Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, (August 26, 2018) and will move to St. Joseph Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. on Monday until time of services.
