At a time when state government workers and teachers were ineligible for raises due to state budget constraints, Gov. Matt Bevin awarded a member of his administration a $215,000 raise.

The Associated Press reports that Charles Grindle, the Executive Director of the Commonwealth Office of Technology, now makes $375,000 per year, more than double the governor’s salary, and making him the highest paid employee in Bevin’s administration.

The cost of Grindle’s 134 percent raise is covered by savings made possible by Grindle’s leadership, according to the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet.

Grindle previously was paid $160,000 annually.

Media efforts to reach Bevin’s administration for comment on the raise have been unsuccessful.
