Luanna Nichols Anderson, 95

Luanna Nichols Anderson died, Sunday, September 2, 2018 at U of L Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born February 4, 1923 to George and Kitty Nichols.

She was a teacher for 32 years. She began her teaching career in a one room school at Snap and then at Big Clifty. She was ask by then Superintendent Oran P. Lawler to consider teaching due to a shortage of teachers in the county. She earned her teaching degree from Western Kentucky University while teaching and while her own children were attending college. She spent most of her career at Clarkson Elementary. Every child she taught had a special place in her heart.

Luanna leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She had an impact on so many lives during her 95 years. She will be missed by all who loved her.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 70 years, A.L. “Chick” Anderson, her brothers Dr. George Riley Nichols, Dr. Clyde Nichols, Dr. Cletus Nichols and one sister, Altha Nichols Cain.

Survivors include two sons – Donald Ray Anderson and his wife, Margaret, and Edward Louis Anderson and his wife, Phyllis. Four grandchildren survive – Debra Brackett and her husband, Gunner, Wallace Anderson and his wife, Sissy, Erin Anderson and Michael Anderson. Five great grandchildren also survive- Laska Anderson, Kevin Brackett, Jay Brackett, Lainie Anderson, and River Anderson.

Visitation: Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 2-8 PM CDT; Thursday after 9:00 AM at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home. Funeral service: Thursday, September 6, 2018 1:00 PM CDT at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Holladay officiating, burial to follow in Clarkson Cemetery.
