Gary R. Pettrey, Sr. formerly of Caneyville passed away September 4, 2018 at the Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab in Beaver Dam, Ky. He was born September 7, 1941 in Watertown, New York the son of Clayburn Sr. and Irene Beatty Pettrey.
Gary is survived by one son, Gary Pettrey, Jr. (Cindy) of Caneyville, two daughters, Victoria Nedd (Patrick Sr.) of Maryland and Vivan Hunt (James) of Shrewsbury and one sister, Shirley Silcox of Tennessee.
Eight grandchildren, Scerena, Raven, Erica, Patrick Jr., Crystal, Tina, Tasha and Melissa. Seventeen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other loved ones also survive.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Louise Corley Pettrey, two brothers, Clayburn Jr. and Roger Pettrey, two nephews, one niece and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Watson and Hunt Funeral Chapel in Leitchfield. Burial will be at the New Hope Cemetery in Short Creek. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.
