Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:20, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Anneta and Leitchfield Fire Departments and EMS responded to the intersection of Peonia Road and St. Anthony Road on the report of a single-vehicle accident.

Upon arriving, GCSO Deputy Kelsey Overton and Sgt. Fred Norder found that 34-year-old Dyana Ewers, of Clarkson, had been traveling east on Peonia Road when, according to witnesses, a westbound red compact car (perhaps a Nissan or Toyota), being driven by a female, turned into the path of Ewers and onto St. Anthony Road, forcing Ewers into the westbound lane.

Ewers, fighting for control of her Ford F-150 truck, crossed back into the eastbound lane before leaving the roadway and striking an embankment, flipping the truck onto its side.

Ewers had to be extricated from the vehicle by Anneta and Leitchfield fire personnel. She was transported by EMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center with what appeared to be serious injuries.

The vehicle that turned in front of Ewers, causing the wreck, did not stop, as it sped away on St. Anthony Road.
