After a collaboration with multiple law enforcement agencies, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for robbing Commonwealth Community Bank, in Centertown, in March 2018.

The suspect, Jayson B. Collier, of Clarksville, Tennessee, entered the bank and demanded money from the tellers. Police said Collier insinuated there was a weapon in an Adidas bag he was carrying, as he shook the bag and told the tellers, “Don’t make me do it.”

Tellers complied with Collier before he apologized and fled the bank on foot with the cash. Authorities have not released how much money Collier stole.

During the investigation, detectives with the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office noticed that there had been several other recent robberies in other areas of the state, according to Ohio County Sheriff Tracy Beatty, resulting in the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department, Cadiz Police Department, and Kentucky State Police collaborating and determining that the robberies may be connected.

The investigation produced enough evidence to arrest Collier and charge him with first-degree robbery.

Collier is currently serving time in Tennessee on unrelated charges but will be extradited to Kentucky.
