Intoxicated driver strikes residence in Hart County

Monday morning at approximately 9:30, Kentucky State Police responded to a residence on South Jackson Highway, in Hart County, on the report of a vehicle versus house accident.

Upon arriving, police found that 27-year-old Nicholas D. Smith, of Park City, drove his 2017 Jeep SUV onto the front porch and struck the exterior of the residence at 6975 South Jackson Highway. Kentucky State Police said the home was occupied at the time of the incident, but no injuries were reported.

The on-scene investigation found that Smith was under the influence. He was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, DUI (his second offense, with aggravating circumstances), criminal mischief, criminal trespassing, and having no operator’s license.

He was lodged in the Hart County Detention Center where he was additionally charged with possession of marijuana and promoting contraband.
