Pulaski Co. deputy hospitalized after being hit by fleeing suspects’ car; police shoot, striking one occupant

Kentucky State Police is investigating an officer involved shooting in Pulaski County.

Police said that Pulaski County Deputy Jon Williams observed a stolen vehicle, containing two occupants, being driven on Hwy 27 Tuesday afternoon at approximately 2:00, near Science Hill.

When Williams attempted to execute a traffic stop, the vehicle fled. The pursuit entered a field, where deputies deployed spike strips. While deputies were out of their cars, the suspects’ vehicle struck Williams when it began to back up, resulting in officers shooting at the suspects.

The vehicle continued to flee and was later located behind a residence on Hwy 635, just west of Science Hill. One of the vehicle’s occupants was airlifted to University of Kentucky Medical Center, another has been detained, according to police.

Williams was transported to Lake Cumberland Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities have not released the names of the suspects.
