The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced a section of I-65 south will be closed on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.

Transportation Cabinet spokesman Chris Jessie said Scotty’s Contracting will close the right lane of the divided I-65 section of the interstate, south of Elizabethtown, to install traffic measurement devices in the pavement. The lane closure will begin at mile marker 91 and end at mile marker 83.

Jessie said traffic will be directed into the left lane of the divided section commonly referred to as the “chute,” which will effectively close southbound exit 86 at Glendale.

“Southbound motorists wishing to access exit 86 will either utilize southbound exit 91 to southbound Hwy 31-W, or proceed to southbound exit 81 and utilize northbound I-65 back to exit 86,” according to Jessie.

The closure will begin at 6:00 Tuesday night and should reopen by 6:00 Wednesday morning, Jessie said.
